Dalmaji-Road is a pathway where you can walk along the beach shore and Nurimaru. It is a landmark of Haeundae, and is also the most famous drive course in Busan. ‘Dalmaji-Road', also known as Montmartre hill, is been a place where blue ocean, white sand, Camellia forest, and pine trees have kept a perfect harmony since long ago. To see a moon on the summit of Dalmaji (greeting the moon) along with the sight of Cheongsapo is so elegant, that Dalmaji became one of “the
beautiful eight views of Busan”.
Nurimaru, also called as the APEC house, is one of the most visited places in Dalmaji-Road. Nurimaru is where Busan had held the 13th APEC meeting in 2005 with No Moo Hyeon, the ex-president along with many foreign representatives. You can actually get into the conference room in the APEC house, where you can feel the formal and rather mysterious atmosphere. Furthermore, there are exhibitions of the clothes that the ex-president No Moo Hyeon had worn during the meeting, and meals that were served that day. On the first floor, there is a room where each countries' representatives had taken their seat. Also, the view from the APEC house shows the Gwangan bridge and Haeundae skyscraper most clearly.
Another interesting place to visit in Dalmaji-Road is Choi Chi Won(최치원)´s monument. In fact, there is a special historical relationship that Haeundae share with Choi Chi Won. He used to be a citizen of Silla, one of the Korean nations from ancient history. However, as the end of Silla neared, he left the country where the society was in confusion, and went to Kaya mountain. On his way to Kaya mountain, he passed Haeundae where he was greatly inspired with the dazzling view of clouds on the ocean. He then namedthe place after his nick-name, 'Haeun', and this is the story of how Haeundae got its name.
Walking along the Dalmaji-Road while looking at the beautiful view will make your heart feel warm, while healing your tired minds. I strongly recommend visitors in Busan to visit Dalmaji-Road as well!
