You ready for a bunch of words that will help you for online dating?

식성/식 (shik-seong/shik)

When using Jackd or Grindr, you might see 님 식이 뭐예용? which is asking about what body type you prefer in a very cute style (standard Korean would be more like 님 식이 뮈죠?) Whether you are talking about your own look or what you want, just like in English there is a taxonomy to learn in queer Korea. TKQ is here to fill you in.  So what do we have?

통: From 통통한사람.  A chubby guy.
건장: A healthy guy (from 건장한 사람)
슬림: From the English 'slim'.
말라: Another word for slim (from 마른 사람)
스탠: From the English 'standard'. A average body type (leaning on the athletic side).
뚱: From 뚱뚱한사람. A fat guy.
근육건장: A healthy muscular guy. (근육 -> muscular)
슬림근육: Slim and muscular

You'll see these words mixed in with sexual positions as well. Maybe a 슬림 탑 (slim top) or 스탠 올 바텀 (average versatile bottom).

Google 근육건장 and this will pop up.

What if you don't have a preference? You can use the words 잡식 (I eat everything) 만식 (만인의 식성) or 올식. I think that is my preference. Personality is the most important anyways, right? Well, maybe not in the world of online dating.
