COMPUTER BASED LEARNING -
Learning algorithms - a sort of system that is able to learn logical things (such as language); just put a massive amount of data (i.e. language) into the system and it will begin to understand.

"learning algorithm does: adjusts when you are tested so that you always have to struggle a little bit, but you are generally successful"

Instead of programming (which is like a form of deduction - learning through a set of written rules), using learning algorithms computers can learn just like any child can through induction (that is experience a whole range of sensory data and from those data look and see if you can see any kind of underlying patterns - gradually those patterns become more sophisticated after being tested and tested again in feedback loops so that you can automatically learn things like... cough whole languages?)
