This blog serves two purposes:
- To make you aware of a cool place in Daegu.
- To provide directions to one of the venues that will host a festival I've helped organise.
(Please come, it's going to be amazing.)
How to get there:
Get to Daegu.
Get to Junangno Station (Red Line, Line 1)
Exit from Exit 3
Walk straight for 2 minutes.
Soundtrack:
Mine Lee will be performing at Social Market on the day of the festival. She's awesome.
(N.B. Obviously I'm a bit partial to Social Market, they're letting me take over their premises for one day, but my thoughts are my thoughts and my opinions are my own. Very little extra love was given in this review...)
It's brilliant to have such an aces place in Daegu to buy and support crafts by local designers and artists (both Korean and not) in our city and Social Market provides just that. Struggling for a gift or card, or maybe you need one of them elusive postcards from Korea for your nan back home? Social Market will probably have something for you better than the phaff at Artbox or HotTracks.
Personally I'm known to keep my walls a nice shade of barren but if you like hanging pretty things around your house then this would be the place to come too. Check it out:
As well as serving some okay coffee, good beer, snackables AND providing a relaxing spot to do homework, meet with friends etc (none of that AngelInUs hard techno going on) Social Market is also one of the few places in Daegu you can buy music from local bands. I viciously recommend all these bands. ALL OF THEM! LISTEN:
From left to right, top to bottom:
(I have not heard this band yet.)
