Another week, another comic! Not the prettiest one I’ve drawn, but at least it got done!
One thing that seems to happen fairly often in Korea is that awesome stuff gets sold out far too often. For example, there are a limited number of stores here that sell avocados, and even less stores that sell them at a decent price. The last few times I’ve gone these places with hopes of having guacamole for dinner, I came home sad and disappointed. Melodramatic, I know. It’s even worse when random American snacks show up out of nowhere, as they never seem to get replaced. Home Plus, I’m looking at you and your random shipments of Cheez-Its!
My friends and I have a theory that nearby ports often get misplaced shipping crates that were supposed to go somewhere else. Since it would be too expensive to ship them to where they’re supposed to go, it’s possible that it’s just easier to sell whatever stuff is inside. Of course, this is more than likely a bunch of nonsense, as I know little to nothing about shipping and crates and all that stuff.
As for things selling out, it may just be possible that I’m competing with other likeminded expats who stock up on such rarities. I know I’m guilty of doing it too, though I’m trying to be better about it.
