This year we had a five-day Chuseok (추석) holiday, September 18 - 22, 2013.
At work, we dressed in traditional Korean hanbok (한복) and made songpyeon (송편). Songpyeon is a Korean traditional rice cake which has various stuffings (e.g. sesame seeds, black beans) and is then steamed over a layer of pine-needles because “song”(송) in songpyeon means pine tree in Korean. During this holiday, Koreans eat half-moon shaped Songpyeon under the full-moon, wishing themselves a brighter future. We also played games, including the Korean board game, Yut (윷).
