This a test.
To see if I can knock out a post using only my phone and the Blogger app. Where as my usual process takes weeks, sometimes months to bear fruit the hope is this method can be more streamlined. Anyway...
So it seems that someone on the City Council finally remembered about Ulsan north of river. In the last year areas that had been left to rot (urbanistically speaking) have been overloaded with art, culture, a clean lick of paint and coffee shops and restaurants and more coffee shops. Most of them pretty decent too.
One such place left to the rats is/was Taehwa River Grand Park, a seemingly constant barren-looking stretch of land that is only ever interrupted by the 2km bamboo forest (separating it from the majestic Taehwa River) and overgrown boymen flying toy planes for some reason. The '대' in '대공원' was a typo.
So I was surprised to find the very new 'Must Coffee Lab' on a photo walk today that had taken me in that direction. Located on Restaurant Street (a Man vs Food mission waiting to happen) around number 75 just north of the aforementioned park...
Must Coffee Lab's coffee is good, very fucking good. Strong, flavoursome, from bean to cup there's an evident amount of skill and dedication going into each brew. The decor is simple and unfussy, the music appropriate (no shite disco-pop blaring out to ruin ones mood) and there's not a sofa in sight. The owners must have seen the problems with cafés in Korea and decided to have none of that...
In a land of caffeine mediocrity it's always wonderful to find a cafe that can make your blood bounce...
How to get there:
'Resaurant Street' and all it's food magic can be easiestly accessed via Dong-Gang Hospital (동강병원) bus stop. Though from there the restaurants start at 100 in reverse order.
Head down Restaurant Street.
Follow the road to your right past the sci-fi looking Presbyterian church.
Must Coffee Lab will be on your right after five minutes.
Or:
Get to Taehwa River Grand Park. (Via Taehwa Rotery perhaps?)
Head to the north side.
Explore.
Excitingly, next door to Must Coffee Lab is 'Brown 457', a brunch place so cool it's not been invented (opened) yet!
A city on the GROW...
